Sustainable Blue Economy Conference

At the Sustainable Blue Economy Conference (SBEC), MARPLASTICCs has co-organised the “Building the global momentum on marine/aquatic plastics litter” side event and will sit on the panels for "Public-Private partnerships for reduction of marine plastic pollution" and "The role of healthy oceans and lakes in sustainable blue economy."

The SBEC Conference is the first global conference on the sustainable blue economy. MARPLASTICCs joins over 18,000 participants from 180 countries to learn how to build a blue economy that improves the lives of all and conserves water for future generations.

PEMSEA East Asia Seas Congress

27 November 2018 - Iloilo Convention Center, Philippines

MARPLASTICCs is in the Philippines from 27 to 30 November 2018 for the East Asia Seas (EAS) Congress held by Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA).

Session 2.3 (Marine Plastic Pollution: A Global Issue with National and Local Solutions) is convened in part by IUCN and co-chaired by the Capacity Development Manager of IUCN's Mangroves for the Future project. During this session, IUCN representatives from Thailand and Viet Nam will present on plastic waste pollution and management in their countries, and discuss challenges and opportunities.

The theme of the 2018 EAS Congress, which takes place every three years, is “25 Years of Partnerships for Healthy Oceans, People and Economies: Moving as One with the Global Ocean Agenda.”

Sustainability in Packaging Europe 2018

29 October 2018 - Barcelona, Spain

This event offers a 360º perspective on the key challenges the packaging supply chain is faced with and possible solutions so it can evolve towards a more circular economy. Philippe Puydarrieux, IUCN's Lead Natural Resource Economist, is contributing with other experts on the design and development of a footprint calculator using LCA, Input-Output Analysis and hybrid methods to help industry meet these challenges. Philippe is also a co-author of 'Plastic footprint: state of the art and ways forward', a review of existing and developing footprint methodologies and LCAs for plastics that will be published by IUCN in January 2019. In Barcelona, Philippe will speak about this upcoming publication and 'How to bring plastic into a more efficient circular economy system'.

National Stakeholder Consultation and Theory of Change Workshop
